Workouts
I grew up in small town Iowa. When I say small town, I do not mean 100 people in a tiny village. What I do mean less than 5,000 people, graduating class of 87 students, and I participated in any activity that would fit in my schedule.
A typical day in the life of high school Molly
- 5:30AM Wake up and head to the school for Drill Team practice
- 6:00-7:30AM Drill Team practice
- 8:00AM -3:30PM School
- 3:45-5:15 PM Volleyball/Soccer Practice
- Find something to eat!
- 6:45-10:00 Play Practice or Musical Practice
- Repeat the next day
Slightly busy? Sure. Would I have changed it? Absolutely not. My best friend had pretty much the same schedule (different sports), and we loved every minute. However, when college came, my body paid the price. My hectic, physical, always moving schedule was replaced by a different type of recreation, and my nicely portioned home cooked meals were replaced by dorm food...ouch!
Over the last ten years, I have swung the scale back and forth anywhere from 132 pounds to my heaviest 174 pounds. I have tried calorie counting, a few fad diets, and different types of workouts, but it really comes down to a lifestyle change.
Enter my husband. Though schedules do not allow it anymore, when we met, Adam could easily be at the gym for two plus hours a day. He is a fitness fanatic. While an hour or so a day is more than sufficient for me, he is my inspiration. I'm not even sure he knows that?
I'm not where I want to be, but I'm working on it. This is my journey.
